At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a National Science and Technology Council briefing on the results of the newest government initiative to upgrade chip-based industrial innovation, with a focus on the fields of biomedicine and agriculture. The premier noted that the Taiwan Chip-based Industrial Innovation Program leverages critical technologies—semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence (AI)—to spur industrial innovation and expand access to technological applications, thereby serving as a vital foundation for implementing President Lai Ching-te's policy visions of building a healthier Taiwan and advancing the nation as an "AI island."
Premier Cho stated that promoting the application of key semiconductor technologies in the biomedical and agricultural sectors is essential to advancing precision health and smart agriculture. He instructed relevant ministries and agencies to continue expanding application scenarios, enabling the meaningful integration of technological innovation into everyday life and driving the creation of a smart living environment for all. The premier also directed all ministries and agencies to further enhance the global competitiveness of Taiwan's industries while reinforcing the nation's critical role in the democratic supply chain.
