Premier Cho Jung-tai pledged to work closely with domestic industries to expedite research and seek further international cooperation to create peace and security for the nation.
Cho attended the SEMICON Taiwan 2025 opening ceremony Sept. 10 in Taipei City. Themed “Leading with Collaboration. Innovating with the World,” this year’s event drew a total of 17 countries with national pavilions, in addition to over 4,100 booths organized by 1,200 businesses from over 60 nations, he added.
The premier noted that artificial intelligence has brought about a new industrial revolution that includes cloud computing. Cho stated that in 2024 the production value of domestic semiconductor industries reached NT$ 5.3 trillion (US$175.2 billion), adding that the 2026 fiscal budget proposal allotted NT$ 30 billion to Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects including drones, quantum technology, smart robots, silicon photonics and unmanned vehicles.
Ten major AI initiatives have been devised to stimulate overall industrial development through smart manufacturing and to nurture a smart life environment where citizens enjoy convenience brought by advanced technology, he added.
