At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) briefing on a program to promote urban and rural local industries. The premier directed the MOEA, along with relevant ministries and agencies, to cooperate with local governments in actively implementing the program, so that the distinctive industries of Taiwan's cities and countryside can enhance the nation's soft power.
Premier Cho pointed out that micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) form an important foundation for Taiwan's thriving local economies and stable society. He said the program will meet the needs of local industries and complement related government policies by deploying three key strategies—shaping unique urban and rural brands, introducing diverse support measures, and establishing marketing channels. The program's measures aim to facilitate the upgrading and transformation of local industries, expand their marketing and distribution channels, and create distinctive brands to represent Taiwan's cities and countryside.
