The annual DigiWave Art x Technology Festival (Oct. 10–13, 2024), organized by Administration for Digital Industries of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (ADI, moda), kicked off at the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. This year marks the sixth edition of DigiWave, which is themed to deconstruct key technological issues of the year through curation and tech experiences, enhancing public participation, and strengthening positive influence on the public. By integrating experimental technology development with emerging digital services, it creates an experiment laboratory for creators, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. Internationally, DigiWave has won the MUSE Creative Awards for Experience Exhibition in Experiential & Immersive exhibitions for three consecutive years, including two Platinum Awards by showcasing Taiwan’s strength and leadership in interactive technology industry.
This year, moda, for the second time, collaborated with the Ministry of Culture and the Kaohsiung City Government to host the Taiwan Technology x Culture Expo (TTXC) along with the 2024 DigiWave Festival. This large-scale urban event gathers key players in film, music, and digital technology nationwide to showcase avant-garde technologies, providing interactive experiences for the public and demonstrating Taiwan’s technological prowess and cultural heritage.
Minister Huang Yennun (黃彦男) of moda remarked in his opening speech at TTXC on October 12 that moda encourages the use of AI and digital data to address social problems, innovate public services, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The Ministry is committed to advancing the real-world verification of emerging technological innovations, fully supporting the integration of cutting-edge technology with industries, and accelerating the development of virtual-real integration and cross-border innovative applications. In the future, the government will continue to spearhead the innovative development of emerging technologies and bring the integration of digital technologies across industries to Asia New Bay Area in Kaohsiung.
DigiWave 2024, themed “Roaming the Ears in the Digital Age,” is D-major, alluding to the D major in music on the one hand, and digital technologies on the other hand. It combines AI image generation, audio simulation, and speech synthesis technologies to try to break the digital “sound barrier” by visualizing sound, showcasing the latest trends and innovative applications in sensory technology, and driving the next digital wave in the harbor city life through technology.
This year, the public are cordially invited to be all ears for the DigiWave 2024, which is being held at the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung.
